Woodward House
Woodward House – Women’s Club of San Antonio – When people ask me for a good locations for bridal portraits, I always mention the Woodward House. This is a historic mansion located North of the downtown area at 1717 San Pedro. It is owned and maintained by the Women’s Club of San Antonio. It was built in 1904 and is beautifully furnished. The manager of the home is Martha Cantu, who is a pleasure to work with. You can contact them for rates and to schedule the portrait session by visiting their website: http://www.thewomansclubofsa.org/Contact_Us.html There is a photography fee (like most venue locations) but it is very reasonable.
My favorite parts of this location is the mirror room, and the balcony. If you are looking for a great San Antonio location for dramatic bridal portraits, I hope you’ll consider the Woodward House. It is one of my favorite places to shoot portraits. Photographers often go on and on about the “quality of light”. This location has several windows that have gorgeous light streaming in. It also has some very pretty garden areas for doing some outdoor portraits. Not only is it a great portrait location, but it makes a very romantic venue for small weddings.
