Ricardo & Barbara San Antonio Wedding

As I travel throughout the Hill Country, I always seem to find a little jewel here and there that I never knew existed. Such is the case with a small Catholic Church in Lacoste Texas. It’s a little southeast of Castroville. The church is gorgeous. I was there for the wedding of Barbara and Ricardo. Although they have been married for over 15 years, they had eloped, and Barbara is now getting the wedding ceremony that every girl dreams of. The wedding party looked sharp in Red and Black.

Another jewel that I found that day was the priest. A real-life Irish priest, with a heavy Irish accent, and the personality to fit. When I asked him what the rules of the church were for photography, he just smiled and with an Irish twinkle in his eye, he said “There are no rules.  You take the best photographs you can of this beautiful wedding!” What? There are always rules, especially in a Catholic church. Nope, he told me to go wherever I needed to, to get the best shots of the wedding.  I did go on the alter to get a shot of the bride and groom, but otherwise, I’m always respectful of the alter at the church.

The reception was at the Pueblo Hall. This is another venue that I’ve never been to.  When I walked in, the decorations blew me away. It was the world’s LARGEST mirror ball.  Seriously, this mirror ball was the size of a Volkswagen Beetle. The decorations were beautiful.  I have to also give a shout-out to the girl who made the groom’s cake.  The cake looked like a box of scotch next to a cigar. It was amazing.  Cake by Carmen’s House of Cakes.
